THE JACKSON 5: PEPSI GENERATION

"My video's cost about $100,000 per day" - Bob Giraldi

MTV interviews director Bob Giraldi before the world premiere of Michael Jackson's Pepsi - New Generation Concert Commercial. The interviews reflects upon Bob's experience directing music superstars and the events in which occured during Michael's hair catching fire. NOTE: Michael is discussed around the 17min mark and beyond.

I know you all think that Jay-Z, Diddy and 50 Cent were the first to do integrated advertising campaigns with music and consumer goods. Well think again, the one and only Michael Jackson and The Jackson 5 were the first to do so, and Pepsi was there to help lead the charge of the New Generation. Still today Pepsi has a firm grip on pop culture through music and fashion. Those other guys need to catch up...lol

I always wondered how they finished this commercial? We all know the story of Michael Jackson's hair catching fire due to the pyro that happens when he is coming down the steps. Just a thought.
