Carmelo Anthony Teams with Boost Mobile

Relationship marks Anthony’s first endorsement since arriving in New York; Boost enhances existing relationship with New York Knicks

IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Just weeks after signing a new contract with the New York Knicks, Carmelo Anthony goes no contract with Boost Mobile, an industry leader in no-contract wireless service. The deal will focus on New York City-based media and marketing activities building on the team’s momentum as they head into the stretch run and toward the NBA playoffs.

“We couldn’t be happier that Carmelo has decided to team up with Boost to help build on the momentum both Boost and the Knicks have in New York City.”

Boost Mobile is already engaged with the New York Knicks and MSG Network on a multi-platform marketing partnership for the 2010-2011 season with Boost Mobile as the Knicks’ official wireless telecommunications partner. The relationship includes the in-arena “Boost Mobile Celebrity Row,” Knicks player appearances at Boost wireless stores throughout the city, and the Boost Mobile Knicks Groove Truck.

“New York is a key market for Boost Mobile,” said Bob Stohrer, vice president-Marketing, Boost Mobile. “We couldn’t be happier that Carmelo has decided to team up with Boost to help build on the momentum both Boost and the Knicks have in New York City.”

Today, the partnership comes to life with 128-foot tall billboard near Madison Square Garden on the corner of 33rd Street and 9th Avenue unveiling Boost’s new advertising campaign, ‘Be Heard.’ Other elements of the campaign include local radio, billboards, in-store merchandise and giveaways. Anthony will also use his significant social media presence to promote the Boost Mobile brand.

“I am really excited to be joining Boost Mobile,” said Anthony. “Boost is a brand that has strong roots in New York City, and together we will definitely be heard in the coming weeks!”

Anthony, a four-time All-Star and New York native, attended Syracuse University and led the team to its first national championship in 2003. Since entering the NBA in the 2003 draft, Anthony has become one of the most well-known and popular players in the league. He was traded to the Knicks several days before the 2011 trade deadline and has quickly contributed to the best Knicks season in almost a decade.
