Philly Phenom: Jabril Trawick

Court Cred: What are some of your strengths we can expect to see next season at Georgetown?

Jabril: My strengths are attacking the rim of the dribble and in transition. I can score the basketball & I think that something that helps my game is that I always try to outwork other players. I like defending and playing very aggressive - I just go hard ! One more thing is I am a streaky shooter and I can shoot the 3 ball pretty well. I am an unselfish player.

Court Cred: What are some of the things you think you need to work on to take your game to the next level?

Jabril: I think I need to work on mid- range jump shot & actually getting into the mind set of shooting it. I also think that I have to take my defense to another level in order to help me become a better player. Also I think that getting stronger, faster, and becoming more endured will always help.

Court Cred: Talk about the competition level growing up in Philly, and how that helped you mature as a person and a player?

Jabril: I think that the competition in Philly might be the toughest competition you can find. We have some of the best talents no doubt but the thing is that even the players who aren't as talented as other players, they always go hard & always play tough, grimy defense; That's everywhere you go in Philly. Also I always played against older and more mature dudes on the playgrounds - different recreation centers which helped me become more developed than most payers my age; So playing against players like that made it a lot easier for me.

Court Cred: You had a lot of schools recruiting you, but what was the key factor for you to choose Georgetown?

Jabril: The key factor that made me choose Georgetown was the overall program itself. And what that means is not only did I like the basketball program a lot, talking about the coaches and system but also the academic part. G-town is one of the best academic programs in the country such as basketball as well. So it was a win- win. Other than it was a whole bunch of things that made me choose like the tradition and pipe line that the school has, the exposure that they receive and being in the Big East. I can play at an location which is in a great city - surrounded so many other great schools so it also has the great social life. Plus something that is important is that I'm playing somewhere which is not far from home but at the same time I'm getting away. It’s a very good program. P.S: The Verizon Center is a great facility, which we play majority of our games !

Court Cred: What are some of your goals you would like to complete before you leave high school?

Jabril: Well first I want to win a championship plain and simple. 1st Team All- State & Gatorade Player of the Year. But most important I just want to better myself as a player so I can be better prepared for when it’s time for me to go to school.

Court Cred: Whose your favorite NBA player and why?

Jabril: Lebron James is my favorite player. He is the face of the NBA in my opinion. I just love what he brings to the table. He is the most talented player because for 1 he can score, pass, defend, and change the game at anytime - just check out his stats, he's pushing a triple double every night. But the thing is he does all this at the height of 6"8 250 plus pounds. He has the swagger and everything - I like the way he carries himself. It would be nice to see him get a championship through all this adversity of the media because he goes through a lot dealing with that.

SEATTLE STORM ANNOUNCES MARQUEE PARTNERSHIP WITH BING

April 21, 2010: In what could be the most impactful marketing deal in recent U.S. sports history, the WNBA has signed a multi-year pact with Microsoft that includes putting the Bing search engine logo on the jersey front of the Seattle Storm. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Although LifeLock with the Phoenix Mercury and Farmers Insurance with the Los Angeles Sparks already have logos on WNBA team jersey fronts, the deal with the Seattle-based company that had $58 billion in revenue in 2009 will by far have more repercussions on the future of the WNBA and future alliances in other pro sports. Concurrently, Microsoft will use the alliance to continue its efforts to cut into search engine territory controlled by rival Google.

"It was critically important that we not only secure a marquee partner but secure a marquee partner that aligned with both our values and our business objectives. Bing absolutely fits those criteria," Storm CEO Karen Bryant said on StormBasketball.com. "It's a real indicator of the health of the business, a real reflection of Microsoft's commitment to our community and the beginning of what I know will be a long and very productive partnership. To have a company the caliber of Bing make a strategic decision to invest in a local, independently owned WNBA franchise is a significant milestone."

More such WNBA jersey deals are expected although it was not indicated by the WNBA if that would happen by the time the 2010 WNBA season begins in May. As with the other WNBA deals, the logo of team uniform supplier adidas and the team's own logo will remain on the jersey front, although much smaller than the Bing logo.

NIKE 'GRID' BY WIEDEN & KENNEDY

Nike has launched a digital campaign around its 'Nike Grid' interactive street game which allows competitors to compete with runners across London for 24 hours in order to gain points.

The urban game will launch on 23 April at 8pm. In order to play, runners must register at the Nike Grid website, but they do not have to possess any items of technology to track their run.

Instead, the game uses payphones across the city of London as check-in points before and after each run. The running grid covers 40 postcodes, and runners can choose to run only in their own postcode, or they can steal others' postcodes to rack up points.

Nike has launched a Facebook group to support the game and explain its rules in detail.
